Thats the whole point, it shouldent be that clean and nice looking. RPG Palace used to be a very fan-related site and now its a professional site. For this I dont like it as much.

Sorry it's been so long without an update for you guys on the site's situation. For those of you who're still here, I'll explain what's going on. As most of you probably know by now, gamersuplink is closing all of its free-hosted web pages, meaning the Palace had to find a new host. We recieved an extremely generous offer from Gaming Source, including among other things our own domain name, ability to host forums, near-unlimited storage space and bandwith, personal email accounts - and a reduction of advertisements to the bare minimum of one pop-under every 24 hours. Basically, what they asked in return was that we change the name of the site - they weren't crazy about Palace - to the RPG Source, and we agreed. The new site is located at rpg-source.com which currently only has a filler front page giving an early look at the new layout. We will be slowly filling in and tweaking the site as time permits over the next two weeks. We estimate the site will be complete and running smoothly by the middle of this month, with new InvisionBB forums and much new content. Thanks for your patience. Oh, and if you have any suggestions/comments/scathing flames regarding the preview of the layout, go ahead and post them here. You are the best! PaulC!

Those of you who liked it, thanks for the compliments. Sorry but to be blunt I hate it. No offence but the Palace looked skillful somehow. This looks like a geocities site. I'm setting up myself up for abuse aren't I. d**n. No one's gunna abuse you for telling what you think. I would appreciate more detailed feedback than that, though - you hate it, okay, but why? This is an early version of the site, so what do you think should be changed?

No one's gunna abuse you for telling what you think. Haha, it shows that you haven't been to the RPG Town lately. ^_^

In other words, he isn't wow'd by a sweet template. People prefer flash layouts, java menus, or at the very least complex frames like the palace used to have . . .
That's just being shallow IMO.

so what do you think should be changed? Well, the link bit at the site should have anime as its background, like the palace did. Also, make the blue darker.

I agree, the site should look more professional. I suggest that someone makes a new title banner, and make the navigation bar down the left hand side look less like a geocities site. Ill be glad to help in any way I can with the layout.... (Because Im no good at resource creation.) If you need help email me or add me on MSN at: paddyjd@hotmail.com

From a webmasters perspective all 3 of those are out-dated and unprofessional. I hate flash layouts, java menus often are incompatible with my browser and frames are the epitamy of bad layouts.
If it doesn't have the content it needs to make it epic, whats the point in trying to make it look "epic" when it actually isn't? No point in making hundreds of pages with half a page of content each!
Just my two shillings worth.

I'm a little irked by the suggestion that text links on the side make it look like a "geocities site". One of the most popular and successful RPG sites out there, RPGamer, uses simple text links in its navigation bar. Maybe they could be improved, yes, but I don't think the comparison is valid.

The site should be just fine by the time it's officially open and working (By all the links and stuff, I mean). It doesn't matter really what the site looks like, what matters is what the site has.

Amen. Like I said, I think that people that don't go to a site because it doesn't look fancy are just shallow. But let's not go bashing frames here Good ol' frames . . . When you first started lookin' around the internet, frames were the greatest thing- Ever. Period. It's just not right to bash an original. ;D I say that you should do what you, that's right, you, the Pauls, want to. It's your site, and it's being sponsored by GamingSource so obviously they/he/she/whatever has/have a say in it, too, but you two should really go for whatever you have dreamt of the site looking like.
