So which game do you think is better? And when you vote consider when the game was released. I think that Splinter Cell is the only game which has come close to the stealth throne. But it didn tbeat it, games dont inspire me anymore. When I got MGS and FF7 I was obsessed with them, that just doesnt happen anymore.

...I liked Metal Gear Solid more, mainly because it's story was much more appealing, and more thought provoking than Splinter Cell, which was way overrated. Sure, the stealth factor easily goes to Splinter Cell, when compared to MGS. But if it was against MGS2, it might not win. Besides, MGS is overall, just a better game when compared to Splinter Cell..

Metal Gear Solid games are better,the story was more twisted and strange(mainly bad guys of MGS2),plus,it is more emotional in some way,sadness,corruption and all the stuff,for stealth,Splinter Cell win,but for story and everything,trust MGS on that one.
MGS has more attractive stuff then Splinter Cell,and yet it is better.MGS is the best serie.

I agree with both of you. MGS had much better plot and was still a good stealth game, even though when it came to stealth SPlinter Cell was much better. I also prefered the arsenal in MGS.

Well I haven't REALLY played either but from what I have seen MGS wins the cinematic aspects and Splinter Cell wins the realism aspects.

I have both games, and if your talking about stealth Splinter Cell wins hands down, but MGS2 has a bigger range of weaponry which is always good.

Splinter cell wins stealth and on game pro many ppl didnt like mgs2 they said it was over rated ad for every 10 min. of game play they got 20 min of cinema.

I really can't vote because there's two aspects to Stealth games.
Gameplay - where Splinter Cell has the upper hand.
AND
Story- Metal Gear Solid has a thicker plot and better character developement.
Maybe UBIsoft and Konami should get together and make like, Metal Gear Splinter: The Solid Cell or something.

MGS2 is generally more realistic considering AI. . You're walking around, and suddenly, you hear "Whos That!". The soldier shoots you, runs away, and cool music plays.
You then hear something like "Understood. Backup team to Deck E, port side! Insure the intruder does not gain access to the ship!".
In Splinter Cell, when you are spotted, they chase you and stupid music plays. When you are out of their sight for about 20 seconds, they give up. Pretty bad realism.

Ok, that's a really bad description of the gameplay. If you walk too loudly and they hear something, they look around more and are more alert. You have to wait a while before they become less alert and then attack. You hear the radios in Splinter Cell as well, it's just not constant. you often have to quickly find a place to hide and that's not always easy. You can find a corner where there is no light and hide. You can flip off the lights and turn your nightvision on so that while a guard is turning the lights on, you have the perfect chance to grab him from behind. You can realisticly use someone as a shield. (Meaning that they yell at you and tell you to let him go, but if you take the gun from his head and point at them, they will fire. You have to be careful of killing too many innocents or the mission will be aborted. If too many alarms are sounded, the mission is aborted. The guards don't die from two shots to the hand like in MGS2. It's a great game as far as Gameplay goes. I find it hard to believe that you played Splinter Cell for very long at all with that sort of description. |

lol, i played it for about a couple of mins. Anyway, i still think MGS is better. But SOCOM : US Navy SEALS, apart from the dodgy AI, is also a pretty good stealth game
