If I was to say, I'd like to produce a GTA Game, what would you say to me?

I would say that it's going to be arduous, very arduous, but it's worth a try. Secondly, make it an original game and don't follow exactly the same lines as GTA. And thirdly, I very much doubt that you'll ever finish such an ambitious project. I remember a few months ago a Russian n00b 'told' me to make him a GTA-style city complete with events and such. I said that I wouldn't and doing so would take me about 9 months. Then he was all like "WHAT!? IT TAKES 9 MONTHS!? WHY, WHY, WHY!?". Then I kindly explained that RM2K isn't a magic wand, it requires quite a lot of input to make the magic work.

I can see where you're coming from, it's the same place that I am! But the idea popped across my head for a second, and I thought about it, and expanded. I'm not the best coder in the world though... I'm willing to watch it be made, I could just sit back and write the storyline.

The first three didn't need a storyline, it was hard eough to drive around. The only reason I played them games was to kill people. But the latest few, the ones on the PS2 Have really funny, and in the case of Vice City, and actual storyline that you can follow and be part of. GTA 3 couldn't do that as well, as the character didn't talk, but Tommy Vercetti gave you a role to live up to...

I see your point about Vercetti actually having character, but GTA3 was so much darker and I preferred that to Vice City's glitzy tone. In GTA3 the missions held that action movie quality from the beginning (When the gas cannister blows up on the suspension bridge). I haven't played GTA3 for ages but it was more interesting than Vice City. Anyhow, back to topic. You are unlikely to find many coders that would go through with what you're proposing as it's an ambitious concept. To work out a storyline is one thing, but then to create a living and breathing city to set it in is something else. It can be done, but it would require no end of work. The best bet would be to have many different programmers make patches for the game, in which they make their own coded, mapped, or graphical contribution that pushes the production along. I can actually see and idea on the horizon now. If we could get programmers and graphics designers to work together then we could make a city in RM2K that actually worked like one with its own climate and culture. It's just an idea but if we could cooperate then we could make a real RPG town, or city even. Each member of the community has their own flat or house.

If you want to make a game based on RPG Town, take the steps Zeeph and Bloodrose did. UMFH and Valia both featured characters based on real people, but that was about it. Of course, you take the worlds they were in as metaphors if you want, but they would be d**n good ones.
Most modern games flop, sadly, and they seem to be the least common kind, even behind futuristic.

Hey now BMZ, ABL is a d**n fine game, one of the BEST, IMHO. ABL is futurist, not modern. I would say no to a GTA game made on rm, a few tried but failed, or the results were bad.
